Zoe Young

I am an artist specializing in watercolors and mixed media. I paint mostly with vibrant liquid watercolors and use a lot of pen and ink. I like the ability to compose an abstract story with these techniques. I experiment with different patterns and elements of nature and animals. The details involved in each painting are created over dozens and dozens of hours. Each of those hours happily enjoyed in my studio, creating something happy, magical and colorful.

About Me

I was homeschooled growing up which left a lot of time to draw, explore the outdoors, imagine and dream.

I attended Cornish College of the Arts for illustration. Afterwards, I traveled in Asia, Central America, lived in the Southern U.S. and Alaska where I spent weeks on end hiking and camping. Later in life I worked hard to become a professional artist.

At one point I traveled to Mexico with my young son. I saw the homeless dogs on the streets and decided to stay to help them. I spent over a decade there independently working with stray and injured dogs. I found that by bringing these dogs safety and peace, focusing on my own growth, raising my son in the deserts of Mexico deeply changed my art and myself.

Now, having moved back to the states, I am creating art again. It is a reflection of everything that I have learned, experienced and seen in this life.
